A Closer Look at Baylor
- Baylor enters Big 12 play with the nation's top ranking, having won 10 straight and sitting at 13-1. The Lady Bears are the No. 1 team in the nation in the AP poll for the first time in their programs history.

- Baylor swept the Big 12's preseason awards, with Griner being named the preseason player of the year, Pope the newcomer of the year and Sims the freshman of the year.
- The Lady Bears lead the nation in scoring margin, winning their games by an average of 36.1 points per game. Baylor ranks second in field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to just 30.1 percent shooting from the field thanks in large part to a defense that blocks over seven shots a game.
