AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team will hold its annual winter training camps Jan. 7-8, head Cyclones coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler announced Friday. The camps will concentrate on all skill levels of offense, defense and pitching and participants must be between the ages of 8-18.
The Cyclones' defensive camp will be held from 9 a.m.-noon CDT on Jan. 7 with Iowa State coaches and current student-athletes on hand to teach throwing, infield, outfield and catching.
On Jan. 8, again from 9 a.m.-noon, the Cyclones will hold their offensive clinic to help participants learn to maximize offensive ability through hitting and bunting drills.
Pitching clinics will be held on both days during the training camp from 1-6 p.m. Participants will be given a choice of one hour time slots each day in which they will work with Iowa State pitching coach Gary Hines to hone their skill. Pitching camp participants will need a catcher or parent to catch for them.
All winter training camps will be held at the Lied Recreation Center on the Iowa State campus and all campers will need to bring with them a glove, bat, helmet (if possible) and catchers will need to bring catching gear.
