AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's basketball is set for a showdown with No. 17 Penn State Friday as it opens play at the Nugget Classic in Reno, Nev. The Cyclones and Nittany Lions tip off at 6 p.m. (CST).

- Iowa State has started 4-0 or better six times under head coach Bill Fennelly. The Cyclones will look to reach that mark Friday when they face No. 17 Penn State (3-1) at 6 p.m. (CST). The Cyclones will face either Butler (1-2) or Nevada (1-2) on Saturday.
- Iowa State improved to 3-0 with wins over Drake (71-64) and Northern Arizona (65-41) last week.
- Nikki Moody was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week for her performance last week after dishing out 12 assists, including nine against NAU, with just four turnovers. Moody also scored a career-high 16 points against Drake.
- Chelsea Poppens is averaging a double-double (14.0 points, 10.0 rebounds) and Hallie Christofferson (13.3 points, 8.0 rebounds) is just behind the junior forward in production. The duo has led the Cyclones with both posting a double-double last week.
- The Cyclones are averaging 26 free throw attempts a game. In 2010-11, Iowa State got to the line 19.1 times per game.
- After three games this season, Iowa State has 25 steals compared to just 13 after three games last season. Moody leads the way with six steals.
- Iowa State is second in the Big 12 allowing just 46.0 points per game.

Moody Earns First Conference Honor
- Nikki Moody was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week (Nov. 21) making her the second earliest Cyclone in school history to earn the award (Anna Prins, Nov. 16, 2009). Moody was rewarded after dishing out 12 assists with just four turnovers and scoring a career-high 16 points in wins over Drake and Northern Arizona.
