Cyclone Notebook
- Iowa State faces its final challenge prior to an eight day layoff for finals week when it plays host to Mississippi Valley State Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. The game marks the second of Iowa State's five-game home stand.
- The Cyclones are coming off a 62-54 win over intrastate rival Iowa Wednesday night. Four players scored in double-figures for the Cyclones in the win led by senior Lauren Mansfield's 15 points. Nikki Moody (13), Brynn Williamson (11) and Chelsea Poppens (10) were also in double-digits.
- Mansfield enjoyed her best game of the season against the Hawkeyes. The guard had struggled to just 3-of-21 shooting from behind the arc to start the season. In Wednesday's game, Mansfield bounced back from the first scoreless effort of her career (vs. Michigan) to go 3-of-7 from long distance.
- Chassidy Cole continued her strong play against Iowa, matching a career high with seven assists while committing no turnovers. In the last two games, Cole has 12 assists and just one turnover.
- Chelsea Poppens has posted double-digit rebounds in five of Iowa State's seven games this season. The junior, who had eight and nine boards in the other two games, leads the Big 12 averaging 11.3 rebounds per game.
- Iowa State ranks third in the Big 12 in scoring defense and 16th nationally. The Cyclones are holding opponents to just 51.1 points per game on 33.5 percent shooting from the field.
- Poppens is one of three Big 12 players averaging a double-double. Her 17 rebounds against Butler tie the Big 12 high for the season (BreAnna Brock, Missouri).
- Iowa State has controlled the paint early this season. The Cyclones are outscoring their opponents by 12 points in the paint per game (26.6-14.6).
- Poppens needs 61 more rebounds to move into 10th place all-time at Iowa State. Barb Gordon (1991-94) is currently 10th with 624 career boards.
- Anna Prins is 12 points shy of 600 in her career. The junior also needs just six rebounds to reach 300 in her career.
- Iowa State has an all-time record of 596-515 (.536), including 359-162 (.689) under the direction of Fennelly.
