AMES, Iowa - After a week off, Iowa State tennis will travel to Milwaukee, Wis. to face Marquette and Western Michigan in duals this weekend.
The Cyclones (1-3) will face the Marquette Golden Eagles (1-1) Friday afternoon. Head coach
Armando Espinosa thinks that having had their first spring season weekend off, his team will perform well in Wisconsin.
“We wanted them to be fresh for this coming weekend,” Espinosa said. “We didn't necessarily have an off-week, but we gave the girls a little extra time to catch up on school stuff.”
The Cyclones have had only road matches so far this season, so they are well settled into traveling as a group. Play versus Marquette will start at 4 p.m. (CST) on Friday, and will pick up again Saturday opposite the Western Michigan Broncos (1-3) at noon (CST).
Iowa State is close to knowing how its lineup will look like when conference play begins in March.
“We're getting closer to getting our doubles pairings straight-up, as well as our singles,” Espinosa said. “Anything we change from here on out is going to be based on these performances.”
