TULSA, Okla. - The Iowa State tennis (9-4) team will conclude its non-conference spring competition this Sunday when the team travels to Tulsa, Okla. to take on the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (12-2).
The No. 30 Hurricanes will host Iowa State at the Case Tennis Center at 5 p.m. Sunday, and will likely be the Cyclones' first outdoor match of the year. Head coach
Armando Espinosa noted that this change was something his squad concentrated on this week in practice.
“When you're playing indoors it goes a little faster,” he said. “The points are going to go a little longer when we're outside, and we've been focusing on that.”
Coming off a seven-match winning streak, Iowa State is gearing up for some tough road competition. The players have worked hard in practice this week, and are going to use the confidence from their successful stint at home down in Oklahoma.
“After winning seven in a row, we have a bit of a confidence boost,” Espinosa said. “We play just as hard away as we do at home, and we're preparing ourselves to see better competition than what we've had at home.”
