AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team (9-5) will play host to two Big 12 Conference foes, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, this weekend at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center. With nine wins under their belts, the Cyclones swing into action against Oklahoma State on Friday at 2:30 p.m.(CDT), and take the courts again Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (CDT) against the University of Oklahoma.
Iowa State head coach
Armando Espinosa spoke of his squad's eagerness for Big 12 play to begin.
“I think everybody is excited to get everything started,” he said. “Especially because these are going to be matches that we are a little more familiar with.”
Iowa State is fourteen matches into its spring season, and has defeated multiple teams that are now ranked nationally.
“Our non-conference competition was good,” Espinosa said. “Oregon got ranked this week, UC Davis got ranked this week, and the only loss we had against a non-ranked team was Marquette, but they were ranked two weeks ago.”
