AMES, Iowa - Iowa State returns home for the first time since hosting the Cyclone Indoor Invitational last month to face Creighton in a doubleheader on Tuesday at the Southwest Athletic Complex home opener.
The Cyclones (14-8) wasted no time against Creighton (11-13) earlier this season, downing the Bluejays 7-0 on Feb. 12. Designated player Tori Torrescano went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the game while Rachel Zabriskie struck out a season-high 13 batters en route to her first win of the year.
Zabriskie, who is 42 strikeouts away from joining the top 10 strikeout leaders in Big 12 history, will have a chance to add to her total against the Bluejays' Amy Baker. Baker leads Creighton with 20 K's but also poses a threat to pitchers with a team-high eight home runs.
The first game of Tuesday's meeting will begin at 2 p.m. CST with game two scheduled for 4 p.m.
