AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State track and field teams will kick off the 2011 outdoor season with a pair of meets in California as the multi-event specialists head to Berkeley for the California Multi-Event Wednesday and Thursday while a select group of athletes will head to Palo Alto for the Stanford Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Multi-event specialist
Jamal Currica is set to compete in the decathlon Wednesday and Thursday while female Cyclones
Jordon Andreassen,
Anna Holtermann and
Jenny Dillon will compete in the two-day heptathlon. Action is set to begin on both days from Berkeley at 10:30 a.m. CDT.
Senior thrower
Britta Christofferson will compete in the hammer throw Friday at the Stanford Invitational while senior men's thrower Josh Koglin will see competition in the hammer throw Saturday.
Cyclone newcomer
Edward Kemboi will compete in the 1,500-meter run Friday for the Cyclones while
Martin Coolidge and
Rico Loy are set to compete Friday night in the 5,000-meter run. Iowa State distance veterans
Clayton Carper,
Ben Murphy-Baum and
Charlie Paul will follow the 5,000-meter run, competing in the 10,000-meter run.
The Cyclone women will have three competitors in both the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs.
Lucy Kennedy, India Lee and
Meaghan Nelson are scheduled to compete in the 5,000-meter run while
Semehar Tesfaye,
Dani Stack and
Betsy Saina will be on the track for Iowa State in the 10,000-meter run
Fields for the distance races have not yet been set.
