COLUMBIA, Mo. - Iowa State shot just 34.6 percent and Kelsey Harris' last second shot was off the mark as Iowa State dropped a 49-48 heartbreaker to Missouri Saturday in the regular season finale for both teams. With the loss, Iowa State falls to 21-9 overall and 9-7 in Big 12 play. Missouri improves to 13-17 overall and 5-11 in league play.
The Cyclones await the result of the Kansas State-Kansas game to determine their seed in the Big 12 Championship. A K-State loss would give Iowa State the four seed, with a Wildcat victory moving the Cyclones to the five seed.
Iowa State was led by Anna Prins' 18 point-10 rebound effort. Prins was the only Cyclone in double figures with Jessica Schroll second on the team with nine points.
The Cyclones trailed 49-45 when Prins nailed a three from the top of the key to close the gap to one. After the Cyclones got a stop, Lauren Mansfield dribbled down and called a timeout in front of the Cyclone bench with 4.9 seconds left.
The Cyclones inbounded to Harris, who dribbled and fired from 15 feet. The shot hit the back of the rim and bounced off. Chelsea Poppens grabbed the ball momentarily but was unable to hold on as the Cyclones lost their second game this season by a single point.
The Cyclones were ice cold from the start, shooting just 32 percent in the opening half to trail 23-22 at the half. Iowa State led 17-10 after a free throw by Schroll, but the Tigers ended the half on a 13-5 run to go into the half with the one-point lead.
The Cyclones were just 7-for-14 from the free throw line in the game and ISU committed 20 turnovers.
RaeShara Brown led Missouri with 14 points and Christine Flores chipped in 11.
