IRVING, Texas - Iowa State freshman guard Kidd Blaskowsky has been named Phillips 66 Big 12 Freshman of the Week after her performance last weekend in the Cyclone Challenge.
Blaskowsky, a Sugar Land, Texas native, had one of the top freshman performances in school history, connecting on 8-of-13 three-point tries to score a career-high 26 points off the bench in the Cyclones' win over Air Force. Six of the threes came in the second half. She also had nine points behind 6-for-6 free-throw shooting against Alabama State. Her eight three-pointers against Air Force were the most by a Cyclone since Kelsey Bolte hit eight against Iowa in 2009. Blaskowsky averaged 17.5 points and 2.5 rebounds last week while hitting .526 (10-of-19) of her field goal attempts, including .563 (9-of-16) from behind the arc.
Blaskowsky is averaging 7.7 points per game this season.
Oklahoma State's Toni Young was named Phillips Big 12 Player of the Week.
The Cyclones will be back in action Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they host Texas in the Big 12 opener for both schools.
