Cyclone Headlines
- Iowa State is 5-0 for the seventh time in school history and the sixth under the direction of
Bill Fennelly. The Cyclones have started the season with six-straight wins three times (1995, 2000, 2001).
- The Cyclones continued their undefeated start last Tuesday with a 42-point win over Drake at Hilton Coliseum. It was the second largest margin of victory in the series history. Four Cyclones scored at least 15 points, led by double-doubles from
Hallie Christofferson (20 pts-10 rbs) and
Nikki Moody (15 pts-10 assts).
Anna Prins and Kidd Blaskowsky scored 17 points each for the Cyclones, who shot 51.7 percent in the game.
- Defense has been one of the keys for the Cyclones this season. In addition to allowing the fewest points among Big 12 teams (45.4), ISU also ranks first nationally in field goal percentage defense with opponents shooting just 28.2 percent. The Cyclones are also third in blocked shots (5.2 per game). Iowa State's last four opponents have scored an average of 30 points below their season average entering the game.
- Christofferson has been oustanding this season. In the last eight minutes vs. Illinois and the first half against Drake, the junior went 7-7 on field goals, including 5-5 on threes, to score 28 points in 25 minutes. She is averaging 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in 26.2 minutes this season.
- The Cyclones have played the last two games without the services of All-America candidate
Chelsea Poppens. Poppens suffered a concussion in the first half of the Loyola Marymount game. Her status is day-to-day.
-
Brynn Williamson is the only Big 12 player to rank among the league's top-10 in both steals (7th-2.4) and blocked shots (7th-1.6). She is also fourth in defensive boards (5.6). Her impact has also been felt on the offensive end, where she is third in the league shooting 46.2 percent from behind the arc.
- Moody has dished out five or more assists in all four games after missing the season opener due to illness. The sophomore leads the Big 12 averaging 7.3 assists per game.
- Iowa State's starting five are all averaging double-figure scoring and shooting at least 48.7 percent from the field this season. As a group they are shooting 52.9 percent from the field.
- The Cyclones are averaging 73.4 points per game, up from 66.4 ppg a year ago through five games.
Series Notes

Balanced Attack
- In addition to Iowa State's starting five all averaging double figures and shooting above 48 percent, the Cyclones have had their top seven players each score at least 16 points in one game this season.
