Cyclone Headlines
- Iowa State looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it hosts Fairfield prior to an eight-day layoff for finals. The Cyclones and Stags are meeting for just the second time, with tipoff slated for 1 p.m. Sunday.
- Defense has been one of the keys for the Cyclones this season. In addition to allowing the fewest points among Big 12 teams (46.2), ISU also ranks first nationally in field goal percentage defense with opponents shooting just 28.4 percent. The Cyclones are also fourth in the league in blocked shots (4.5 per game).
- Christofferson has been oustanding this season. The junior is shooting 50.9 percent from the field, including 43.5 percent from behind the arc. She is averaging 14.3 points and 8.0 rebounds, both well above her career averages.
- The Cyclones have played the last three games without the services of All-America candidate
Chelsea Poppens. Poppens suffered a concussion in the first half of the Loyola Marymount game. Her status remains day-to-day.
-
Brynn Williamson is the only Big 12 player to rank among the league's top-10 in both steals (5th-2.3) and blocked shots (7th-1.3). Her impact has also been felt on the offensive end, where she is fourth in the league shooting 43.8 percent from behind the arc.
- Moody has dished out five or more assists in all five games after missing the season opener due to illness. The sophomore leads the Big 12 averaging 6.8 assists per game.
- Iowa State's starting five are all averaging double-figure scoring and shooting at least 42 percent from the field this season. As a group they are shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 77.2 percent from the line.
- The Cyclones have out rebounded or had as many rebounds as each of their six opponents.
Series Notes
- Iowa State owns a 1-0 lead in the all-time series against Fairfield. The Cyclones won the only meeting, a 2009 Cyclone Challenge showdown, by a final score of 67-37. Alison Lacey and Kelsey Bolte each tallied 21 points for the Cyclones, who also held a 47-17 edge on the glass.
