AMES, Iowa - Iowa State juniors Erica Miller and Tori Torrescano have been selected to College Sports Madness' All-Big 12 Teams. Miller was named to the first team and Torrescano garnered second team honors.
A career .323 hitter, Miller hit a team-high .364 in 2012, smashing 20 extra-base hits, nine home runs and driving in 30 runs. Her 27 career home runs ranks second all-time at Iowa State. During Big 12 play, Miller ranked ninth in average (.343), slugging (.614) and home runs (five) and was seventh with 43 total bases.
Torrescano hit her way to the top of the Cyclone record books in her third season, breaking single-season records with 14 home runs and 43 RBIs. Her final long ball of the season was Torrescano's 28th of her career, putting her atop the all-time home run list at Iowa State. Torrescano led the Cyclones this season with a .636 slugging percentage, ninth-best in the Big 12, and on the year, Torrescano ranked in the top 10 in the league in slugging, home runs (seventh) and RBIs (seventh).
As they enter their final season at Iowa State in 2013, Miller and Torrescano are poised to become the Cyclones' most prolific duo in program history, both players already ranked or just outside the top 10 all-time in batting average, hits, doubles, home runs and RBIs.
The Big 12 will announce its all-conference awards Tuesday, May 15.
