AMES, Iowa - Cyclone Erica Miller picked up her third award of the week Thursday, named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region second team. Miller is the first Cyclone garner all-region honors since 2006.
Miller finished second among first basemen in the voting behind Cleveland State's Dara Toman.
In her junior season at Iowa State, Miller hit a team-high .364, collecting 20 extra-base hits, nine home runs, 30 RBIs and slugging .610. Miller's .411 on base percentage also was tops on the team.
In her three-year career, Miller is hitting .323 with 141 hits, 27 home runs and 97 RBIs. Earlier this week, she was named to the First Team All-Big 12, her second all-conference honor, having been named to the second team in 2011. Last weekend, College Sports Madness selected Miller to its All-Big 12 first team.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams. The All-America teams will be announced Wednesday May 30.
