NORMAN, Okla. - Iowa State hits the courts again Thursday with three Cyclones headed to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championship in Norman, Oklahoma.
Freshman Samantha Budai will join sophomore Ana Gasparovic in playing in the qualifying tournament on Thursday. Junior Ksenia Pronina has been slotted in the tournament and awaits her opponent from the players qualifying.
Budai has had an impressive fall season so far, bringing home two third-place finishes in the first three tournaments of her career. Budai will put her 6-2 record on the line against Tulsa's Rongrong Leenabanchong in Thursday's qualifying match.
Gasparovic, who is 7-5 this fall, earned a second-place finish at the Drake Invitational in September, falling in the final round to Drake's Mariel Ante. The sophomore will match up with Nebraska sophomore Lauren Wagner.
After a three week break, Pronina returns to action Friday, bringing with her an impressive 6-1 record. Pronina earned a championship at the Drake Invitational as well as a second-place finish from the Gopher Invitational.
Pronina and Budai will also participate in doubles.
Tournament play will take place Thursday through Tuesday in Norman.
