Cyclone Headlines
- Iowa State, which is ranked No. 23 in The Associated Press rankings and No. 21 in the USA Today Coaches poll, plays its final Big 12 regular season road game of the season Saturday at TCU. With a win, Iowa State would tie its record for Big 12 road wins in a season with six (1999-00). ISU is also in search of its fourth-straight Big 12 road win, a feat never accomplished by an Iowa State team.
- Christofferson continues to be one of the most consistent players in the nation. Christofferson is fifth in the Big 12 averaging 15.9 points per game and 10th in rebounding at 6.8 boards per game. The junior has scored in double digits in 22 of 26 games this season, including five games in a row and nine games with 20+ points. She has shot 50 percent or better from the field in 19 games and is shooting 55.8 percent, good for 16th nationally. In the last 13 games, Christofferson has been even better, averaging 18 points and 6.7 rebounds and shooting 58.6 percent from the field. She is also 45-for-52 from the charity stripe during that stretch.
- Iowa State continues to lead the Big 12 in free-throw shooting and rank fifth nationally at 79 percent as a team, which would tie them for the Big 12 record (Missouri, .790 in 2007). ISU's top six players are shooting at least 73 percent from the line. The Cyclones are 15-2 when making more free throws than their opponent and 9-2 when making at least 15 free throws.
- Poppens is just second player in school history and was the 14th in Big 12 history to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. She is the Big 12's active leader with 432 career offensive rebounds. The senior is a major reason why the Cyclones have had as many or more rebounds than 22 of 26 opponents this season and ranks 20th nationally in rebounding margin (+8.2).
-
Nikki Moody leads the Big 12 and is fourth nationally dishing out 7.4 assists per game. She has posted double-digit assists in seven games this season, which is more than any other Big 12 player. The sophomore has recorded at least five assists in 21 of the 25 games she has played this season. Her 186 assists ranks sixth on ISU's single-season list.
- Sophomore
Brynn Williamson has taken on the defensive stopper role this season and is averaging 1.3 steals per game. Despite the increased defensive role, Williamson is hitting on 37.1 percent of her threes. She has hit 52 threes this season and is the 18th player in school history to make 100 career threes.
- Iowa State is holding opponents to just 35.3 percent shooting this season, which is second in the Big 12 and 28th nationally. The school record entering this season was 35.7 percent, set during the 2009-10 season. Opponents are averaging 55.7 points per game.
