ISU Tennis Finishes Play At ITA Regionals

STILLWATER, Okla.-The Iowa State tennis team finished play at the ITA Regional Championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Saturday.

The morning brought the second round of doubles play for the Cyclones with disappointing losses for both pairs. Senior Ksenia Pronina and sophomore Samantha Budai were defeated by Sara Castellano and Palma Juhasz of Kansas State, 8-5. Senior Meghan Cassens and junior Ana Gasparovic were downed by Tulsa's duo of Saana Saarteinen and Renata Kuricova, 8-5.

SIngles consolation rounds proved to be more successful, with wins from Budai and Cassens. Budai took down Payton Jennings of Arkansas, 7-6, 6-1. Cassens fought through a third-set tiebreaker to defeat Maria Jose Cardona, 5-7, 6-4, 10-6.

The Cyclones will finish the fall season in Houston, Texas, at the Jason's Deli Collegiate Invitational Oct. 31through Nov 2.
