The first game in the NCAA tournament was so exciting. The moment we stepped in the arena I was ready to play after waiting three years and finally making the tournament. Playing my first game with the best teammates ever was a memory that I won't forget.
After we won that first game we were excited but we had bad news. Our leader Georges Niang suffered a broken foot which stunned the team after the game. So coming into that next game we had to face a talented North Carolina team that had been playing great all year would. It been tough. We knew that other guys had to step up without our best player, but we had no doubt we were going to win that game.
Against North Carolina, when the clock hit seven seconds and I had the ball I had one thing on my mind and that was please do not turn the ball over. I wanted to attack the rim and get a shot up at least. If I would of drawn two defenders maybe I could have passed out to a teammate but no one helped and I drove the ball to the rim and made a crazy lucky shot. That sent us to New York.
Go Cyclones,
DeAndre Kane
