Behind The Scenes With DeAndre Kane

Editor's Note: DeAndre Kane is a senior on the Iowa State men's basketball team working toward earning his Master's Degree in Higher Education. As part of his Higher Ed 591 course, Kane will be doing a weekly blog to give fans an inside look at his life as a student-athlete. The course is of the field experience variety and he'll be focusing on the role of media communications in higher education and athletics.

Being able to play at Madison Square Garden, the best basketball arena in the world, was a special moment for me and my teammates. We were so happy that we actually wanted to go to shoot around in the morning instead of sleep. Just the making to the Sweet 16 and playing in that arena was a blessing.

Playing for Coach Fred has been the best time ever in my life. I couldn't ask for a better coach. He has helped so much on and off the court and I couldn't thank him more. For coach to bring me and mold me into something I never thought I could become was amazing.

To Cyclone Nation, thank you, thank you, thank you! When I got to Ames I didn't know what to expect. I was a little nervous about whether I could survive in the cold of Iowa, but it worked out great. All year long you have been great to the team and myself, Cyclone nation. I can't thank you enough.

To my teammates. Wow, I won't forget the year of memories that we shared. I loved playing with you guys and I will miss you all so much. I will never forget what we did for the City of Ames. Bros for life.
