MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - A week after a record shattering meet at home, the Iowa State Cyclones traveled to Morgantown, West Virginia to take on George Washington and West Virginia. The team tied for second with a score of 194.850, but took several first place titles on individual events.
Caitlin Brown earned first place in the all around competition, as well as on beam. Haylee Young also earned a first place finish for the Cyclones on floor.
Floor Exercise
Haylee Young received her highest score of the season with a 9.900, earning her first place at the meet. Caitlin Brown also performed well, receiving a score of 9.850. Competing for the first time this season, Kristin DeCosta brought in the third highest score for the Cyclones with a 9.750. Overall, the team received a score of 48.950.
Uneven Bars
Iowa State won bars at the meet with a team score of 48.800. Freshman Hilary Green led the Cyclones on the event with her score of 9.800. Kelsey Paz followed close behind with a 9.775. Caitlin Brown and Briana Ledesma both earned scores of 9.750, which is Ledesma's highest score on the event this season.
Balance Beam
Cailtin Brown earned a first place finish at the meet on balance beam with her score of 9.900. After getting off to a rough start, Brown and Alex Marasco were able to finish strong for the Cyclones. Alex received a 9.825 to help bring the team score to 48.500.
Vault
Haylee Young led the Cyclones on vault with her score of 9.825. She was followed closely by Caitlin Brown and Alex Marasco, who both earned 9.800 on their vaults. The team earned an event score of 48.600.
Coming Up
Iowa State will be traveling to Fort Worth, Texas to compete in the Metroplex Challenge next Saturday. They will be competing against LSU, Oklahoma, and Arkansas at 7:00 pm.
