The women's basketball team jetted off to Cancun, Mexico to take part in a three-game tournament. Each day we will have a different student-athlete blog about their experiences in Cancun to keep you up to date. Enjoy!
Greetings Cyclone Nation!!!
On behalf of the team, I would like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
As I sit here on the beach enjoying this awesome view of the ocean after getting a great team win over a good Texas State team, I started to think about all the things I am thankful for and what this day is really about. As we all know, we love the home cooked foods and filling our bellies with yummy deserts, but today is about more than that. Today is about being thankful. Since I am No. 15 ... I will list out 15 things I am most thankful for in my life (random order):
1. I am thankful for all of my family.
2. I am thankful for my team.
3. I am thankful for my coaches.
4. I am thankful for my friends.
5. I am thankful for all of CYCLONE NATION.
6. I am thankful for Communication Studies professors.
7. I am thankful for my dog Diamond.
8. I am thankful for my rat Casey.
9. I am thankful for a great home back in Houston.
10. I am thankful for all of the event staff that make games run so smoothly at Hilton.
11. I am thankful for the dance team and cheer leaders who support us at every home game.
12. I am thankful to be able to play in one of the best conferences in the country (BIG 12).
13. I am thankful for my AAU teammates and coaches that helped me get to where I am today.
14. I am thankful for my scholarship, and to be a student-athlete.
15. LASTLY... I am thankful that I got to opportunity to be a part of the IOWA STATE women's basketball team and spend this thanksgiving with an amazing group of girls.
These are just 15 reasons out of a lot more that could be listed. This trip has been awesome so far, from laying at the beach, going on adventures, foam parties in the pool and many more fun things. I hope everyone reading this can sit down for a few minutes and think about things they are thankful for as Coach Fenn would say, and go tell that person you love them, or you are thankful for everything they have done for you. Those types of acknowledgments can really make someone's day.
