The women's basketball team jetted off to Cancun, Mexico to take part in a three-game tournament. Each day we will have a different student-athlete blog about their experiences in Cancun to keep you up to date. Enjoy!
What is up Cyclone Nation?! It's the Friday after Thanksgiving which means it's Black Friday! More importantly it means GAME DAY for us Cyclones! GET UP CLONES!
This morning we got to sleep in, when I say sleep in I mean 8 a.m.! We all walked over to the convention center to have a walk through for our game against Duke today. After our walk
through, breakfast was served AKA pregame meal. I enjoyed a ham and cheese omelet, some sausage links, a hash brown and THE MOST DELICIOUS apple juice ever! I don't know why, but it is seriously so good! I like to think I sound cool and say "jugo de manzana." Which means apple juice in Spanish.
The crew walked back to our rooms. Kidd and I stopped in the lobby so look around for some souvenirs to bring back. When I checked out my total was $23 and I gave the cashier $30 because that's all I had. Because she didn't have the change in American dollars, I got Pesos back which was really cool! I feel so official because I'm in Mexico and I have pesos. I'm so legit now.
Idaho and Texas State played the game before ours and I decided to walk over to the convention center a little earlier and watch some of their game. The rest of the crew came over a little later. At the gym there is drinks and food available for the fans and everyone else, so you know I'm taking advantage of the apple juice!
We played against a tough Duke team today. Unfortunately, we didn't have the outcome we wanted. It was a very physical game. We look forward to a quick turnaround tomorrow against Idaho. Also, we have the best fan base all the way in Cancún! We love you, Cyclone Nation!
I also got to watch a sweet little wedding on the beach before our team dinner. It was so precious and romantic. Congrats to the newlyweds!
I don't know if I can say I'm looking forward to coming back because it's so nice and beautiful here and WARM and I can't forget the apple juice! But I do LOVE Ames. See you soon Cyclone Nation!
Love always,
Maddy B
