AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State women's basketball team faces Midwestern State on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum in the first of two exhibition games. Iowa State is looking for its 33rd-straight exhibition game win against the Mustangs. Thursday's game will air on Cyclones.tv.

- Iowa State officially opens the 43rd season in program history on Sunday, Nov. 13 against Hampton. The Cyclones will kick things off with a pair of exhibition games against Midwestern State (11/5) and Concordia University of St. Paul (11/8).
- Iowa State capped off the 2014-15 season with its ninth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and the 16th in program history. Iowa State has made the NCAA Tournament 16 times in the 20-year tenure of head coach Bill Fennelly. No Big 12 team has had more NCAA Tournament appearances (16) since 1997 than the Cyclones. Iowa State also finished tied for third in the Big 12 with a 9-9 record after being predicted to finish sixth for the third-straight year.
- Iowa State was selected to finish fourth in Big 12 play, which is its highest preseason selection since the 2008-09 season. Iowa State has either met or exceeded the Big 12 Coaches preseason Poll projection every season since 2002-03. Iowa State was selected behind just Baylor, Texas and Oklahoma.
- Iowa State is receiving votes in both the Associated Press Preseason Poll (4) and the USA Today Coaches Poll (17).
- The Cyclones return three starters from an 18-13 squad that made its ninth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Bryanna Fernstrom, Seanna Johnson and Kidd Blaskowsky return for the Cyclones. Iowa State also welcomes back Jadda Buckley, who sat out most of last season due to injury and earned a medical redshirt.
- The Cyclones also welcome three newcomers with Bridget Carleton (Chatham, Ontario, Canada), Meredith Burkhall (Urbandale, Iowa) and TeeTee Starks (Brooklyn Park, Minn.), who made up ISU's highest-ranked recruiting class in school history (15th nationally by Prospectsnation.com).
- Buckley is one of just eight student-athletes in the nation to average 40 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 80 percent from the charity stripe in their last season of competition.
- Johnson closed out the 2014-15 season ranked first in the Big 12 Conference with 9.2 rebounds per game. Johnson recorded 15 double-figure rebounding games during the season. - Her 285 rebounds broke the sophomore record for rebounds in a single season. She also surpassed her total of 250 rebounds from last season, which was the second-most of any ISU freshman. Johnson's superb first two seasons off the glass made her the fastest Cyclone to notch 500 career rebounds, accomplishing the feat in just 59 career games.
- The 2015-16 season marks the 21st in the tenure of Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, which is the most of any Big 12 team since 1997. Fennelly boasts a 434-206 record at Iowa State and a 600-259 record in his 27-year career as a head coach. His 600 career wins lists him in the top-20 in the NCAA among active coaches.

- The Midwestern State women's basketball team was tabbed third in the LSC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll.
- The Mustangs are coming off one of their most successful seasons in the program's 40 years with a 23-7 record in 2014-15. Their 23 wins tied for the third-most wins in school history.
- The Mustangs advanced to their third-straight NCAA Tournament before suffering a first-round loss to Colorado Christian, 67-57.
- Head coach Noel Johnson holds a career mark of 113-84 (.574) in eight seasons with Midwestern State.
- The Mustangs return just five letterwinners. Midwestern also brings back three redshirts from a season ago, along with nine new additions to the squad including six true freshmen.
