AMES, Iowa - Fresh off clinching the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series by beating Iowa, the Iowa State softball team is back in action this weekend with a Big 12 series at Texas. The Cyclones and Longhorns will play three games, starting Friday night at 6:30 p.m. The second game of the series will be Saturday at 4 p.m. and the series will wrap up Sunday at 1 p.m.

Cyclone Headlines
- The Iowa State softball team returns to Big 12 action this weekend at Texas. The Cyclones and Longhorns will play three games across three days, the first coming Friday at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Saturday 4 p.m. contest and a Sunday 1 p.m. game.
- The Cyclones have won their last two games, the latest coming Wednesday 5-4 over Iowa in Iowa City.
- The win meant Iowa State clinched the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series, marking the first time either Iowa State or Iowa has claimed the Cy-Hawk Series in consecutive years.
- Aly Cappaert hit the game-winning solo home run in the top of the fifth inning, her fifth home run of the season. The junior has been the hot bat as of late for ISU, hitting .462 across the last nine games, recording a .533 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage in that time.
- Cappaert is second on the Cyclones with her .350 batting average, while leading the Cyclones in walks (24) and doubles (12).
- Brittany Gomez posted two hits and a stolen base against Iowa, moving onto 60 hits for the season, 201 hits for her career and 20 steals on the season, 75 for her career.
- Gomez leads the Big 12 with her .448 batting average and 60 base hits. She also ranks tied for second with four triples and third iwth her 20 steals.
- With her two hits against Iowa, Gomez became the second player in school history with over 200 career hits, along with Jenny Condron (1987-90). With 60 hits on the season, Gomez posted the eighth 60-hit season in program history, and is owner of three of the eight campaigns.
- In the Cyclones' win over UC-Santa Barbara on Mar. 7, Brittany Gomez put up a historic stat line to lead ISU to victory. Gomez went 5-for-5 with four runs, four RBIs and three stolen bases. Gomez's five hits tied the Iowa State single-game record, previously only reached by Carleigh Berry at Missouri State in 2009.
- Maddie Reese's power has been crucial to the Cyclones' efforts so far this season. The senior leads Iowa State with nine home runs and is second on the squad with 24 RBIs on the season, slugging .587 in the process. Last year, Reese had no home runs, six RBIs and slugged .210.
