- Iowa State is back in Big 12 action this weekend when the Cyclones host Oklahoma State for a three-game set at the Cyclone Sports Complex. First pitch on Friday is at 4 p.m. with action on Saturday and Sunday starting at noon.
- Iowa State will be looking to get back on track after suffering its fourth-straight loss Wednesday, that at the hands of Drake 6-3 at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
- Aly Cappaert led the Iowa State offense, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Despite the Cyclones' struggled to get wins on the board, Cappaert has been strong across the last four games, going 6-for-11 with five RBIs in that stretch.
- Cappaert is second on the Cyclones with her .344 batting average, while leading the Cyclones in walks (23) and doubles (10).
- Cappaert's walks total is quickly approaching the Iowa State single-season school record of 29, set by Erica Miller and Tori Torrescano in 2013.
- The Cyclones leading hitter is Brittany Gomez, who ranks third in the Big 12 with her .433 batting average and is second in the conference with 52 base hits.
- Gomez picked up her 50th hit of the year against Oklahoma last weekend, becoming the third player in Iowa State history to record three 50-hit seasons, joining Karen Brenner (1987, 1988, 1989) and Kelsey Kidwell (2008, 2009, 2010).
- Gomez is currently fourth in school history for career hits with 193. Her next targets are Erica Miller's 194 and Courtney Wray's 197 before the school record of 216 held by Jenny Condon.
- Gomez ranks thrid in the Big 12 in steals, boasting 19 for the year. With a school-record 31 steals as a freshman and 24 as a sophomore, the junior is already the only player in school history with multiple 20+ stolen base seasons.
- In the Cyclones' win over UC-Santa Barbara on Mar. 7, Brittany Gomez put up a historic stat line to lead ISU to victory. Gomez went 5-for-5 with four runs, four RBIs and three stolen bases. Gomez's five hits tied the Iowa State single-game record, previously only reached by Carleigh Berry at Missouri State in 2009.
