Gomez ranked third in the Big 12 with a .425 batting average, the second-highest in a season in school history. She got that high average with a Big 12-best and school record 79 base hits. Gomez has continued to expand her game at the plate, hitting a career-best five triples, the most by a Cyclone since 2004, and two home runs, including a grand slam in ISU's win over Texas Tech. On the basepaths, Gomez tied her school record for stolen bases in a season with 31. She is ISU's all-time steals leader with 86 stolen bases.
So far this year, Gomez has earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors and NFCA DI All-Midwest Region First Team honors, and will be hoping to see her name among the NFCA All-America teams that will be announced later this week.
Gomez and the U.S. Women's Baseball national Team kick off the Pan American Games on July 20 against Venezuela.
