Hey Cyclone fans,
Bridget Carleton here! I am so excited to spend the next four years at ISU! I'm from a small town called Chatham, and the first time I visited Ames in December of 2013 I was immediately reminded of home. I am so excited to experience Cyclone Nation first hand!
I have spent the last two weeks in Toronto, Ontario training with the Canadian Junior National Team for the U19 World Championships that are being held in Russia. Right now, we are in Spain to play three exhibition games against Spain, USA and Australia.
This is the fourth age-group national team I've played on, and every single day I still get so excited to represent Canada at the international level. It has always been a dream of mine to play on the senior national team at the Olympics one day and this experience is a stepping-stone in the process!
Training camp was 11 days of hard, intense practices. We were usually on court twice a day for 2-3 hours a practice. Last Thursday, our team took the afternoon off and I got the chance to be a torchbearer to represent Canada Basketball for the PanAm Games that are being held in Toronto throughout the month of July. This was an amazing experience as the streets were crowded and everyone was so excited!
We just got settled into our hotel in Murcia, Spain after a long night and day of travel… everyone is exhausted. I am excited for our first exhibition game against Spain!!
Go Canada!
