AMES, Iowa - Iowa State (6-3, 0-0 Big 12) meets Drake (1-8, 0-0 Missouri Valley) for the 174th time in series history Saturday when the teams play at the Hy-Vee Classic in Des Moines. The game will be the second part of a doubleheader that also features Iowa playing Northern Iowa. The Cyclones and Bulldogs tip off at 6 p.m., with the game being televised by Mediacom Connections (MC22).

• ISU looks to head into the holiday break on a positive note as it plays the first of two games before the team departs for a short break...following Drake, ISU plays its final game before conference play Tuesday when it hosts Mississippi Valley State.
• Iowa State has been a more defensive team this season, ranking among KenPom.com's top 50 in both adjusted offensive efficiency (44) and defensive efficiency (22)...the Cyclones are first in the Big 12 and seventh nationally in field-goal percentage defense (35.9 percent)...the highest the Cyclones have ranked in the Big 12 in FG percentage defense is third in 1996-97, the first season of Big 12 play.
• The Cyclones have allowed just three of nine opponents to shoot above 40 percent from the field in a game...opponents are shooting just 38.8 percent on 2-point shots, which ranks eighth nationally.
• The offensive attack has had its highs and lows this season, but a common theme has been ball movement leading to success...in ISU's wins, the Cyclones have averaged 18.8 assists compared to just 9.0 assists in losses...in the wins, ISU has assisted on 53.3 percent of its made field goals...in losses, the number drops to 35.5 percent.
• Deonte Burton and Monté Morris are leading the way for the Cyclones...the duo is combining to average 27.9 points and 12.1 rebounds per game...Morris ranks 22nd nationally in assists per game (6.1) and 12th in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.9)...in the last five games, Burton is averaging 17.8 points and shooting 56.3 percent (9-16) behind the arc.
• Morris now ranks 21st all-time at Iowa State with 1,261 career points after passing Gary Thompson and Robert Estes in the Iowa game...Morris needs 19 points to match Loren Meyer for 20th on the list...against Omaha, Morris dished out his 600th career assist, becoming just the third Cyclone and sixth playing in Big 12 history to reach the mark...he currently has 606 assists and needs six more to move past Diante Garrett for second all-time at Iowa State.
• Matt Thomas moved into a tie with his former coach Fred Hoiberg for fifth on ISU's career 3-pointers made list with 183...next on the list is former teammate Georges Niang with 188.
• Reserve Nick Weiler-Babb has made the most of his time on the floor...he has posted three games with at least six points, four assists and four rebounds, despite playing just 21.7 minutes per game...he has five or more rebounds in five games...at the line, Weiler-Babb is shooting 81.8 percent (9-11).
• It should come as no surprise, but Iowa State ranks among the nation's top teams in taking care of the basketball...the Cyclones average 10.6 turnovers per game, which leads the Big 12 and is 12th nationally...ISU's turnover percentage of 14.0 ranks third nationally.
