Many Cyclones Will Earn Diplomas This Weekend
12.16.2016 | Athletics
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State student-athletes are shining in the classroom.
In the most recent data released by the NCAA, Cyclone student-athletes registered the best graduation rate in the Big 12 Conference. Also included in the NCAA release was the fact that ISU student-athletes graduated at a higher rate than the student body for only fourth time in the last 22 years.
Additionally, ISU recorded its best-ever Graduation Success Rate (GSR) at 82 percent. The GSR is a measure the NCAA created several years ago to better reflect eligibility and graduation.
This weekend, there will be many more Cyclone success stories, as a number of former stars on the field will receive their diplomas at various graduation ceremonies.
The Office of Student-Athlete Development honored its most recent graduates this afternoon at its annual graduation luncheon.
All-Big 12 offensive lineman Nick Fett will be walking across the stage tomorrow. The former walk-on is a prime example of what can happen if you keep pursuing your dreams.
"This is the end result I always wanted," Fett said. "To finally get here after four and a half years is pretty cool. I really wouldn't change much about my career. I was lucky to have Coach Campbell and his staff for a year. They are the reason I got to where I am at."
Congratulations to the 2016 Cyclone graduates!
