AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team (4-1, 0-0 Big 12) is back in action this weekend with a full slate of competition. The Cyclones will have their first opportunity to keep their winning streak alive by facing Idaho State (1-2, 0-0 Big Sky) on Friday (Feb. 12) at 4 p.m.
The Cyclones will then go up against Utah State (2-2, 0-0 MWC) at 11 a.m., on Saturday. The first two duals of the weekend will be played in Logan, Utah on Utah State's home court at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club facility.
On Sunday, the Cyclones will travel 50 miles south to Ogden, Utah to meet Weber State (0-5, 0-0 Big Sky) in attempt to wrap up a perfect weekend. The Cyclones will face off against the Wildcats at 11 a.m., at the Edman Tennis facility.
All three matches will serve as strong competition before facing off against the in-state rival Northern Iowa next Friday (Feb. 19).
Iowa State hopes to start off strong in all three duals by taking the doubles point in each match. The Cyclones are currently undefeated on the season when they win the doubles point. The top pairing of Liza Buss and Samantha Budai will attempt to keep their success going in doubles. The pairing is 13-4 on the year.
Buss is also having a successful singles season. The freshman is currently 18-4. Another freshman in Annabella Bonadonna is undefeated (5-0) in singles play since entering the spring season.
This weekend's slate of three tough opponents will be another great chance to improve as the Big 12 season continues to approach.
