AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team continues its non-conference road swing this weekend at the Aggie Invitational, hosted by UC Davis in Davis, California. The Cyclones will open the tournament Thursday at 4:30 p.m. CT against the hosting UC Davis Aggies. Iowa State will play two on Friday, with matchups against South Dakota (1 p.m. CT) and Idaho State (3:15 p.m. CT). To close out the tournament, ISU will face New Mexico on Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

Cyclone Headlines
1. Iowa State (7-3 overall) travels to Davis, California this weekend to participate in the UC-Davis Invitational. The Cyclones will play four games at the tournament, facing South Dakota, New Mexico, Idaho State and the host school, UC-Davis.The Cyclones went 2-2 at the Hilton Houston Plaza Invitational, with wins over Ball State and Toledo. Both of Iowa State's loses in Houston came in extra innings.
2. The Iowa State pitching staff currently has the 2nd-best cumulative ERA (2.06) in the Big 12, behind only Texas (.191). ISU is also holding opposing batters to the lowest batting average in the conference (.214).
3. Junior Cathlin Bingham is off to a fast start on offense through 10 games. Bingham ranks No. 4 in the Big 12 in batting average, hitting at team-best .452 clip this season. She also is No. 2 in the conference in hits with 14.
4. Senior Aly Cappaert has four home runs so far this season, including two in ISU's 8-5 victory over Ball State on 2-19. It was the third multi-home run game of her career, and put her in a tie for first among the conference's home run leaders.
5. Freshman Emma Hylen is the top-ranked freshman in the Big 12 in opponent batting average at .161. She earned a win in relief work in Houston, by pitching 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit, in the Cyclones' 4-2 comeback win over Toledo. She is also one of just four pitchers in the Big 12 with a save this season.
6. Sophomore Kelsey McFarland provided perhaps the highlight of the Houston Invitational when she smashed a 3-run homer in the top of the seventh inning in Iowa State's win over Toledo. The Cyclones were trailing 2-1 with two outs when McFarland hit what proved to be the game-winner.
7. Freshman Savannah Sanders was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week following her 3-0 weekend at the Cyclone Indoor Invitational. The Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native had a 0.81 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 17.1 innings of work. Sanders is currently 4-0 on the season.
8. Sanders currently leads the Big 12 Conference with 36 strikeouts, and she is the only freshman in the league's top eight. She is striking out over eight batters per game.
9. Three of the top four place-holders on the Iowa State career batting average list are on the 2016 Cyclone roster in Brittany Gomez (1st - .394), Rachel Hartman (2nd - .357) and Aly Cappaert (4th - .347).
