NORMAN, Okla. – The Iowa State women's basketball team (13-15, 5-12 Big 12) fell to No. 23 Oklahoma (19-9, 10-7 Big 12), 85-54, on Saturday in the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla. Emily Durr led Iowa State with a career-high 24 points off a career-high five 3-pointers in her second-career start.
How it Happened
Oklahoma's Kaylon Williams took advantage of the Cyclones early as she went on a 6-0 run to kick off the game. Oklahoma would lead by as much as 14 in the first quarter as the Cyclones struggled offensively. The Cyclone offense started to pick up steam when Durr netted back-to-back 3-pointers as Iowa State ended the first quarter with a 12-point deficit, 25-13.
The second quarter was all Durr. The sophomore netted 11 second-quarter points to close the first-half with a game-high and career-high 20. She netted a career-high five triples in her run. Durr helped the Cyclones trim the Oklahoma lead to nine, 41-32, to close the first half.
The Sooners started the third quarter on a 6-0 run and never looked back. The Sooners would pile it on in the third, taking as much as a 27 -point lead into the fourth quarter. Williams led the charge for Oklahoma with 11 points in the first several minutes of the third quarter. Oklahoma shot a blistering 55.6 percent in the third quarter, while the Cyclones' shooting woes continued as they knocked down just 33.3 percent of their shots. OU led 69-44 after three quarters.
Iowa State was unable to climb out of the 25-point deficit entering the fourth quarter. Durr would finish the game as the Cyclone leader with a career-high 24 points. Jadda Buckley would pour on 16 points as the only other Cyclone in double figures.
