AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team begins Big 12 play this weekend against the conference leaders, No. 19 Baylor. The Cyclones and Lady Bears will play three games at the Cyclone Sports Complex, starting on Friday at 4 p.m. CT, while games Saturday and Sunday will begin at noon.
Admission to this weekend's games, and all of Iowa State's home games at the Cyclone Sports Complex, are free of charge.

Cyclone Headlines
1. The Iowa State softball team (15-14 overall) will open Big 12 Conference play this weekend, as the Cyclones host a three-game home series with No. 19 Baylor. The teams are set for one game each on Friday (4 p.m.), Saturday (Noon) and Sunday (Noon).
2. The Cyclones are coming off a 3-2 victory over the Indiana State Sycamores on Wednesday. The teams were set for a doubleheader, but game two of the day was called off due to severe weather.
3. Freshman Sally Woolpert provided the highlight of ISU's victory over Indiana State. With the game knotted at 2-2, Woolpert hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth that would prove to be the game-winner. It was Woolpert's second homer of the season.
4. Freshman pitchers Savannah Sanders and Emma Hylen were both strong in the Cyclone win. Sanders got the win, giving up two runs on three hits in four innings of action. Hylen recorded her third save of the season, shutting the Sycamore attack down in three innings without surrendering a hit.
5. ISU split a home doubleheader with North Dakota State over the weekend, falling in the opener, 4-1 before a 7-2 victory that was called after five innings due to rain.
6. Hylen picked up the win against NDSU last week to improve to 7-3 on the season. Hylen went all five innings, giving up two runs on just two hits. Hylen now boasts the No. 3 ERA in the Big 12 at 1.57. She is the only freshman in the top six of the category.
7. Sammie Hildreth was the hero of Saturday's victory over the Bison, as the senior was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and a pair of three-run homers to lift the Cyclones to victory. The game marked career-highs for Hildreth with six RBIs and two home runs.
8. Brittany Gomez has come on strong of late and showed why she was one of the top returning offensive players in the conference. The senior is hitting .467 (14-for-30) over the past 10 games and is now No. 2 in the Big 12 in hits at 39. She has played four fewer games than the leader (BU's Jessie Scroggins - 40).
9. Gomez also leads the Big 12 in steals (16) and steals per game (.62), as she is well on her way to becoming the first player in school history with 20+ steals in four consectuvive seasons.
10. Cappaert has six home runs so far this season, including two in ISU's 8-5 victory over Ball State on 2-19. The senior currently ranks tied for fifth on the conference home runs list.
