AMES, Iowa – Big 12 play resumes for the Iowa State softball team (17-24, 0-6 Big 12) this weekend as the Cyclones travel to Lubbock, Texas for a three-game series against Texas Tech (19-25, 4-5 Big 12). The Cyclones and Red Raiders will play games on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (4 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.) at Rocky Johnson Field.

Cyclone Headlines
1. The Iowa State softball team (17-24, 0-6 Big 12) travels to Lubbock, Texas this weekend for a three-game Big 12 series against Texas Tech. The Lady Raiders enter the series with a 19-25 record, including a 4-5 mark in the Big 12.
2. Last time out, the Cyclones swept a doubleheader on April 19 against the South Dakota Coyotes. ISU had its offense working, winning by scores of 10-7 & 8-2. The 18 total runs scored are the most by Iowa State this season in back-to-back games since scoring 18 combined on Feb. 12 & 13 at the Cyclone Indoor Invitational (vs. E. Illinois & N. Dakota).
3. Sophomore Kelsey McFarland had one of the finest performances of her career in game two against South Dakota. The ISU center fielder went 3-of-4 at the plate with two home runs and five RBIs to power the Cyclone offense. The five RBIs were a career-high, in addition to it being the first multi-home run game of her career.
4. Brittany Gomez made history in game two of the doubleheader, breaking into the Big 12's top-5 all-time for career hits. The senior now has 280 hits as a Cyclone, 10 away from moving past Lisa Carey (Oklahoma) for the No. 4 spot.
5. Gomez was phenomenal in the double-dip vs. South Dakota, going 6-for-9 at the plate on the day, with two triples, a double and three runs scored. Gomez's four RBIs in the game one tied a career-high.
6. The senior has come on strong of late and showed why she was one of the top returning offensive players in the conference. The senior is hitting .500 (18-for-36) over the past 10 games and is now tied for first in the Big 12 in hits at 60. She has played seven fewer games than the co-leader Jessie Scroggins (BU).
7. Gomez has recorded a hit in 38 of Iowa State's 41 games so far this season. She has reached base safely in 40 of Iowa State's games. The senior is second in the Big 12 in steals (20) and first steals per game (.49). Against OSU she became the first player in school history with 20+ steals in four consecutive seasons.
8. Cyclone senior Brittany Gomez made history once again, becoming the first player in school history to be selected in the National Pro Fastpitch Draft. Gomez was taken with the No. 28 overall pick by the Pennsylvanio Rebellion.
9. Emma Hylen picked up the victory in game two over South Dakota, pitching all seven innings while giving up just two runs on nine Coyote hits. The freshman struke out four in the outing.
10. Savannah Sanders racked up eight strikeouts vs. Creighton. The freshman had a phenomenal performance, despite the loss. Sanders did not surrender a hit until the decisive 7th inning.
