2. ISU's Tuesday date with the Hawkeyes has some added significance, as it is the final game of the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. This year's finale will decide which school wins the trophy. The Cyclones can force a tie between the two universities with a win, which would keep the trophy Ames for an unprecedented third-consecutive year.
3. Last season, the Cyclones clinched the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series for Iowa State with a 5-4 victory over Iowa in Iowa City. Aly Cappaert launched a home run in the fifth inning to help lift ISU to victory.
4. Over the weekend, the Cyclones faced a stiff test from No. 9 Oklahoma in a three-game Big 12 series. The Sooners took all three contests in Ames, as OU improved to 12-1 in conference play.
5. Game one provided the highlight of the weekend for ISU. In the midst of a phenomenal outing from starting pitcher Savannah Sanders, the Cyclones took their only lead of the series on a two-run homer in the bottom of the 4th inning by Aly Cappaert. Despite a gritty performance, OU would rally for a 4-2 win.
6. In the 15-12 win over Drake, The Cyclones were led by the quartet of Cathlin Bingham, Kelsey McFarland, Kirsten Caudle and Sally Woolpert, with three hits each. The mark was a new career-high for Woolpert, while Caudle's three RBIs were a personal best. Cappaert and McFarland also had three RBIs. The 15 runs were a season-high for ISU.
7. Sophomore newcomer Kristine Kimberley picked up the first win of her ISU career against Drake. Kimberley put in 5.1 innings of relief work, giving up five runs on eight hits, as the Cyclones stormed past the Bulldogs.
8. Cappaert had first-inning home runs in the second and third games at TTU, marking her 9th and 10th homers of the season. She became just the second player in school history to record three seasons with 10+ home runs (Tori Torrescano, 2010-13).
