FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Iowa State tennis team finished up play at the Jon Messick Invitational Sunday afternoon, hosted by Colorado State.Â
The third day of the tournament featured six wins from ISU, with two wins in doubles and four wins in singles play.Â
Ekaterina Repina and Margarita Timakova picked up a 6-0 victory against Northern Colorado's Rafa Mora and Tristen Bryant Otake. Repina and Timakova finished the weekend 2-0 after playing with different partners on the first day of competition. Erin Freeman and Annabella Bonadonna defeated Emily Luetschwager and Solene Crawley, 6-1. Maty Cancini and Regina Espindola lost 7-6 to Milka Genkova and Magdalena Stencel of Wyoming.Â
In singles action, Cancini picked up her first singles win of the tournament as she won 6-2, 6-2 against UNC's Rafa Mora. Espindola and Timakova both won against pairs from South Dakota, while Freeman knocked off Harsha Challa of Wyoming, 6-2, 6-1.Â
Bonadonna lost to South Dakota's Anastasia Bondarenko, 6-4, 7-5, while Karen Alvarez fell to Nanette Nylund of South Dakota, 6-0, 6-4. Repina was defeated in a 6-4, 6-4 match against Wyoming's Ana Tkachenko.Â
Next, the Cyclones will head to the ITA Regionals in Lawrence, Kansas from Oct 20-22. Â
