Cyclones Receive Letter Jackets At Ceremony

AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State Letterwinners Club honored spring sport student-athletes and managers by awarding them an "I" and the accompanying Cardinal and Gold letter jacket Monday evening. The ceremony took place at the Sukup End Zone Club, where student-athletes and managers were welcomed into the Letterwinners Club.
"It's just really special because my grandpa got one back in 1956, and for me to eventually get one, it's pretty cool and nice to see it continue in the family," men's golfer and second-generation student-athlete Tripp Kinney said.
Student-athletes and managers in men's basketball, women's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, gymnastics, softball, swimming and diving, men's track and field, women's track and field, tennis and wrestling were presented their jackets by Letterwinners Club President Judge Johnston and their respective coaches.
"It means a lot because we work really hard and have a couple months of preseason that go into it," gymnast Casandra Diaz said. "We were freshmen so it meant a lot to us to go out and compete and contribute to our team."
"We're apart of something bigger than us, and not everyone gets this opportunity, so it's something special," wrestler Hank Swalla said.
