AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head softball coach Jamie Trachsel announced the addition of prep standout Skyler Ramos to the 2017 Cyclone signing class on Monday. Ramos joins Taylor Nearad, Julie Lewis and Bryn Hanrahan in ISU's incoming class.
The outfielder from Ventura, California is a product of Buena High School, where her abilities as a prep caught the eye of Trachsel and the ISU coaching staff.
"Skyler is a blueprint for our vision of the kind of players we want to build this program," Trachsel said. "One of Skyler's biggest strengths is her attitude and mentality. She is fearless, determined, and plays the game with a little bit of snarl and a lot of killer instinct. She's a player who wants to be great, not good."
Ramos joins Trachsel's first recruiting class during the spring signing period, and will look to have an impact on the field early.
"I chose Iowa State because I truly believe the coaching staff can help me become the best athlete I can be, and build Iowa State into a top-20 program," Ramos said. "I want to be a big part of turning Iowa State in an elite program."
