Latest APR Data Showcases ISU's Academic Success
05.10.2017 | Athletics
AMES, Iowa – The NCAA released its multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR) data this afternoon, and Iowa State sport teams have continued to improve.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
Iowa State's multiyear year score of 982, which includes the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic seasons, ranks third in the Big 12 Conference.
Four sport teams, including football, posted a record APR score and two teams – women's cross country and women's track & field – had perfect scores of 1,000, both of whom received national recognition for being in the top 10 percent of their sport.
"The latest APR data is a tribute to our coaches and student-athletes who make it a priority to achieve success in the classroom," said Patrice Feulner, Iowa State's Senior Associate Athletics Director of Student Services.
Feulner also noted that nine of ISU's 16 sport teams were above the national average and nine teams increased their APR score from the previous season.
The following teams – men's golf, men's track & field, wrestling, women's cross country, gymnastics, women's swimming, women's track & field and tennis – also produced perfect single year scores.
