Iowa State Ties For Sixth At Fighting Irish Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Iowa State men's golf team tied for sixth at the 2018 at the Fighting Irish Classic. The Cyclones carded rounds of 278-275-288 for a three-round tally of 841.
Illinois won the team competition, firing a three-round total of 808, which was 10 shots clear of the field.
Sophomore Lachlan Barker paced the Cyclones individually. The Willunga, Australia, native tied for seventh, while posting a 54-hole mark of 203 (65-68-70), which was the best of his career. The top-10 finish is the seventh of Barker's career and his second this fall.
Barker's 54-hole mark of 203 is tied for the fifth best in school history.
Junior Tripp Kinney and sophomore Sam Vincent finished tied for 17th and tied for 32nd individually, respectively. Kinney tallied a 54-hole score of 209 (69-69-71), while Vincent turned in a 212 tournament tally, carding rounds of 72-68-72.
Iowa State will close out their fall schedule with play at the first-ever Big 12 Conference Match Play. The tournament is set to begin on Friday, Oct. 12 from Houston, Texas.
