Game #28Â - West Virginia
• Iowa State returns to the court Saturday at No. 21 West Virginia in its second to last road game of the regular season...the Cyclones are looking to win in Morgantown for the first time since 2015.
• ISU will be without Donovan Jackson (funeral), Nick Weiler-Babb (knee) and Solomon Young (knee)...reserve Hans Brase (knee) remains questionable heading into the game...if Brase is unavailable, Steve Prohm will have six players at his disposal.
#CycloneNotes
• The shorthanded Cyclones fell to TCU, 89-83, Wednesday night in Ames despite 27 points from Donovan Jackson, just days after the death of his father Donald.
• Without Jackson, Weiler-Babb and Young in the lineup, ISU is missing 42.7 percent of its scoring, 35.8 percent of its rebounding and an average of 32.1 minutes per game per player...the three were the only returning regular contributors from last season's Sweet 16 squad.
• Iowa State boasts one of the top freshman duos in the nation in Lindell Wigginton and Cameron Lard...the pair makes ISU one of just two teams nationally, the other being Duke, to have two freshmen averaging at least 15 points per game in conference action...Wigginton is averaging 16.6 points and Lard 15.7 points against Big 12 foes, ranking them both among the top-eight in scoring in conference games only...with 761 total points combined, they are already the third-highest scoring freshman duo in school history.
• Wigginton, a two-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honoree, is second among Big 12 freshmen in scoring average (15.9), just off the pace to set the ISU freshman scoring average record held by Curtis Stinson (16.2)...his nine 20-point games is an ISU rookie record and his 58 three-pointers made are second-most on ISU's freshman chart, just three behind Jake Sullivan's record...he needs to average 17 points over the final three conference games to become the first Cyclone rookie and only the eighth Big 12 rookie to score 300 points in league games.
• Lard, a redshirt freshman and last week's USBWA National Freshman of the Week, has perhaps been ISU's most consistent player in Big 12 play...he is averaging 15.7 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in Big 12 games, while scoring in double figures in 14 of 15...Lard has posted double-doubles eight times overall, which is the third most by a freshman in school history...in the last five games, he's leading the Cyclones with 17.8 points and 9.8 rebounds...he is one of three freshman nationally and one of just seven players overall averaging 13-8-2...he has already set the ISU freshman record with 52 blocks...he is 11th nationally shooting 63 percent from the field, which would be second all-time by a freshman in the Big 12.
•  Zoran Talley Jr. has been in the Cyclone starting lineup the previous seven games and is averaging 9.9 points...his first start as a Cyclone came in a 93-77 win against WVU at Hilton Coliseum...in that game he had seven points, five assists and four boards...he has scored in double figures in four of his starts, including 15 points against Kansas...Talley Jr. has made 4-of-9 threes as a starter...he missed seven games in the middle of the season with a stress fracture in his foot.
•  ISU has had a rash of injuries this season, with five of 10 eligible players missing a total of 30 games entering Saturday's tilt...ISU has played just 10 of 27 games with all players available.Â
