Iowa State Finishes Fifth At The NIT

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Iowa State men's golf team finished fifth at the National Invitation Tournament with a three-round 840 total (281-277-282).

UNLV won the team title at 814, nine shots ahead of Arizona State at 823.

Senior Denzel Ieremia paced the Cyclones by tying for second at 202. Ieremia made a huge jump when he carded a second-round 64, matching his career best. Ieremia's second round featured 11 birdies and tied him for the second-lowest score recorded in the history Cyclone golf.

He followed that up with a 4-under 68 this afternoon, recording four birdies and no bogies.

Ieremia, who now has 10 career top-10 finishes and four on the season, tied for the third-best 54-hole round in school history (202).

Tripp Kinney just missed out on his first career top-10 by finishing 11th at 207 (66-70-71), establishing a new career low for 54 holes. Kinney's first-round 66 was a career low and he had two eagles in the tournament.

Lachlan Barker finished in a tie for 27th at 212 (72-69-71).

Iowa State is back in action at the Colleton River Collegiate, March 12-13 in Bluffton, S.C.
