Williams Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor

AMES, Iowa - Sophomore Sami Williams has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District 6 Softball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced. The Academic All-District teams divide student-athletes into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The native of Laguna Niguel, Calif., maintained a 4.0 GPA in Software Engineering, and was also an Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree. On the field, Williams had a phenomenal sophomore campaign, leading the Cyclones with a .388 batting average, 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 27 RBIs. Williams' 12 home runs are the third-most ever in a single season in program history, leading the way as the 2018 Cyclones broke the single season school record with 44 dingers on year.
