AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis schedule for head coach Boomer Saia's first season has been announced with four fall and one spring tournament and 19 duals on the slate.
The Cyclones open the fall at the Gopher Invitational in Minneapolis from Sept. 20-23. ISU will also compete at the Virginia Tech Invitational (Sept. 28-30), ITA Regionals in Iowa City (Oct. 12-16) and the New Mexico Invitational (Oct. 26-28) in the fall.
Upon returning from their holiday break, the Cyclones head to Miami to play in the Florida International Invitational (Jan. 11-13) as a final tune-up heading into the spring's dual season.
Iowa State plays host to Augustana and South Dakota on Saturday, Jan. 26. Iowa State will play its home outdoor matches at Forker Tennis Courts, while matches forced indoors because of weather will be played at Life Time Fitness in Urbandale.
Iowa State's non-conference slate features matches against multiple Power-5 schools in the Pac-12's Washington State (March 2) in a neutral site match in Lincoln, Neb., as well as four foes from the Big Ten: at Wisconsin (Feb. 2), at Iowa (Feb. 8), at Nebraska (March 3) and at Minnesota (March 9).
Iowa State faces its first Big 12 test on Feb. 10 when it hosts West Virginia. Also on the Cyclones' home Big 12 schedule are Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas and Baylor. Saia faces his former team, Texas Tech, which last year advanced to the Elite Eight, on Sunday, March 17 in Lubbock.
The 2019 Big 12 Championships will be held in Lawrence, Kan., from April 18-21. NCAA Championship play begins May 3.
