AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team (5-4, 1-0 Big 12) is primed for a weekend road trip to Texas for matchups vs. TCU (7-4, 1-0 Big 12) and No. 25 Texas Tech (10-4). The Cyclones square off with the Horned Frogs on Friday (3 p.m.) and the Lady Raiders on Sunday (Noon).Â
Iowa State is looking for its first ever win over both teams.
"We've fought very hard in each of our matches this season and I'm excited to play against some of the best teams in the league," head coach Boomer Saia said. "We have to be prepared with our best tennis to give ourselves a chance to win. I know we will be in for a battle."

COACH SAIA RETURNS TO TECH
Head coach Boomer Saia returns to Lubbock Sunday when the Cyclones take on Texas Tech. Saia, a former assistant coach for Tech, was an integral part in helping Texas Tech to a 20-win season and an appearance in the Elite Eight in 2018.
"It will be a neat experience coming back to Tech as an opposing coach," Saia said. "It will be a great environment for our players to play in. This is a big weekend for our program."
CYCLONE TENNIS QUICK HITS
-Annabella Bonadonna has 155 overall career wins for the Cyclones and is three wins away from a tying Iowa State's all-time overall wins record. The senior is also three singles wins away from a tie for second place on the overall career singles wins list with 71 wins.
-Regina Espindola is tied for ninth place in overall career singles wins with 60 wins.
-Espindola is also nine wins away from reaching the top-5 on the overall career wins list with 124 wins.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Maty Cancini will get another opportunity against a ranked opponent Sunday against Texas Tech. The Lady Raiders enter the match with one ranked individual, No. 47 Felicity Maltby.
This will be Cancini's third ranked opponent in her last four matches. The junior is 1-2 in those matches.
