WORTH NOTING
1. Iowa State enters the tournament with a 23-11 record after winning the Big 12 Championship last weekend in Kansas City...the Cyclones defeated three NCAA Tournament qualifiers (Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas) to earn the league's automatic bid for the fourth time in the last six years...ISU, Kentucky and Villanova are the only schools in the nation's top-6 leagues to win four conference tournaments in the last six years.
2. Marial Shayok was named the Big 12 Tournament's Most Outstanding Player (18 ppg)...Lindell Wigginton (14 ppg) and Michael Jacobson (9.7 ppg, 9.3 rpg) were also on the all-tournament team.
3. Shayok's eight NCAA Tournament games played in ties for the sixth-most among players that made the Big Dance this season.
4. Tyrese Haliburton was 11-for-15 from the field and 6-for-9 behind the arc in the Big 12 Tournament.
5. Iowa State has 10 more wins than it did last season.
LAST TIME OUT: CYCLONES BEAT KANSAS TO WIN BIG 12 TOURNAMENT
• Iowa State led for more than 36 minutes on its way to a convincing 78-66 win against Kansas in the finals of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship...ISU was led by Wigginton's 17 points off the bench, while Shayok (15), Jacobson (14) and Haliburton (11) also reached double-digits.
• The Cyclones locked down defensively, holding KU to just 39.4 percent shooting, including 3-of-18 from behind the arc...the Cyclones held Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Dedric Lawson to just 8-of-21 shooting...ISU had nine steals and seven blocks in beating the Jayhawks for the second time in three meetings this season...both of ISU's wins were by double-figures.
• Weiler-Babb finished with nine points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals against the Jayhawks.
IOWA STATE-OHIO STATE SERIES NOTES
• Iowa State is 0-6 all-time against Ohio State (0-1 in Ames, 0-2 in Columbus, 0-3 at neutral sites).
• ISU has faced Ohio State twice in the NCAA Tournament, falling to the Buckeyes 75-64 in 1985 and 78-75 in 2013.
• In 1985, Iowa State ended a 41-year NCAA Tournament drought and made its return to the Big Dance to face Ohio State...ironically, the game was also played in Tulsa, Okla...the game was played at the Mabee Center on the campus of Oral Roberts University.
• In the last game between the teams, Ohio State won a close one, defeating ISU, 78-75 in the round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament in Dayton...Aaron Craft made the game-winning 3-point shot with one second left in the game.

• Iowa State is 19-19 all-time in the NCAA Tournament...Steve Prohm is the seventh coach to lead Iowa State to the NCAA Tournament and the fifth to have multiple NCAA appearances (Johnny Orr, Tim Floyd, Larry Eustachy, Fred Hoiberg, Steve Prohm).
• Iowa State has made the tournament in seven of the last eight seasons, one of just 15 teams to make that claim.

• The Cyclones became the first 5-seed (and lowest overall seed) to win the Big 12 Tournament, defeating 4-seed Baylor, 1-seed Kansas State and 3-seed Kansas in the finals to claim their fourth title in the last six years...ISU and Kentucky are the only Power-5 schools with four titles in the last six seasons.
• ISU improved to 5-0 all-time in Big 12 Championship games...the Cyclones are 12-2 in their last 14 Big 12 Tournament games.
