AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team (5-8, 1-4 Big 12) battled, but fell to No. 30 Oklahoma (13-4, 3-1 Big 12) Sunday afternoon at the Life Time Fitness in Urbandale, Iowa. The Sooners defeated the Cyclones 6-1 in the Big 12 matchup.
Ekaterina Grib picked up the lone win for Iowa State in a hard-fought match with Jasmine Asghar in the No. 3 singles slot. Asghar bested Grib in a first set that went to a tiebreaker, 7-6(10). Grib won the second set handily, 6-2 to force a third set. The freshman kept things rolling in the tiebreaker to win, 6-7 (10), 6-2, 1-0 (7).
In doubles play, Iowa State was leading 4-2 in the No. 3 doubles match, but the it went unfinished after the Sooners clinched the point.
In the No. 6 singles match, Margarita Timakova found herself in a battle with Ivana Corley. Timakova won a first set tiebreaker over Corley, 7-6 (3), but ultimately fell to the Sooner. Corley downed Timakova in the second set, 6-1, and went on to win the third set tiebreaker, 10-6.

The Cyclones take a road trip to Kansas for two more Big 12 matchups with Kansas and Kansas State. Iowa State takes on the Jayhawks Friday, April 5 at 5 p.m., and the Wildcats Sunday, April 7 at 11 a.m.
