Texas Tech 3, Iowa State 2
The Red Raiders did all of their offensive damage in the top of the third inning, jumping out to a 3-0 lead. The first three Texas Tech batters of the inning collected base hits, including a Karli Hamilton single to left field. A Cyclone error allowed Miranda Padilla to round third and score, plating the first run of the game.
An RBI on a ground ball back to the pitcher extended the lead to 2-0, followed by a Jessica Hartwell RBI triple to right center, making the TTU advantage to 3-0.
Iowa State answered right back with a pair of runs in the home half of the inning. Hannah Carter drew a lead-off walk, followed by a TTU error that put runners on first and second with one out. Kaylee Bosworth then stepped to the plate and picked up a base hit to shallow center field, loading the bases with one out.
Sally Woolpert took advantage, putting the Cyclones on the board by looping an RBI single into right field, scoring Carter. Pinch hitter Mikayla Ramos then drew a bases-loaded walk to bring another Cyclone run home, cutting the deficit to 3-2.
The game remained scoreless until a downpour started in the top of the fifth inning. Hartwell walked, and stole second right before time was called to postpone the game. The TTU senior will be on second base with two outs and a 1-1 count for teammate Taylor Satchell when play resumes on Saturday.
