MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Iowa State (5-4, 1-0 Big 12) dropped a match against Minnesota (7-6, 0-1 Big Ten) Saturday afternoon, 4-1. The Cyclones saw three singles matches go to the third set, but couldn't capitalize.
Maty Cancini picked up the lone point for Iowa State in the No. 1 singles spot. The junior defeated Tina Kreinis in two sets, 7-5, 7-5.
The Valencia, Venezuela native has now won two straight matches and four of her last five.
Regina Espindola and Annabella Bonadonna found themselves in an early hole, but battled back to force a third set. Both matches went unfinished.
Ekaterina Repina got off to a hot start in the No. 4 match, but fell in a third set tiebreaker, 7-5, 3-6, 6-7 (7-0).
